Shopping at Marshalls for Fathers Day & A Giveaway!

Every Father's Day I buy the dads in my life the same stuff, a shirt, maybe if the shirt is cheap enough a pair of shorts but to buy quality that rarely happens. This year my plan was no different since they all can use a new shirt, except this year I was able to check out Marshalls and their low prices rather than run into a "high end" department store that claims they have lowest prices of the season and amazing clearance, but yet I still walk out with only one shirt, and usually above my budget price?! I usually go to a store like Macy's for a gift, they have named brand merchandise, the store is known for quality, but they are also pricey. At first I was hesitant about giving a present from Marshalls since rather than being known for high end merchandise, most people know them as a discount store, those stores that throw clothes on racks and you need to hunt in the kids section for an adult men's shirt.

I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped into my local Marshalls. There was nothing discount about the store except the prices and it was neat and organized. The clothing was all name brand, Polo, Jones NY, name brand denim, Izod and more (and women's carries it all too, since I had to sneak a peek). I recently checked out TJ Maxx and thought I found discount heaven, well with Marshalls I found discount nirvana. Not only did they have a great men's department with a great selection (and aside from the actual selection of merchandise the size selection was great, my husband is a big guy, and I was able to find a size 44 shorts -but don't tell him I told you the size just to prove a point please!!?!!). And, and, and (can you tell I'm excited) it has a section that any woman would love, an entire section called The Cube, with the kind of fashions you would find in a New York City boutique or a couture shop in Beverly Hills. I think the Cube is intended as a juniors shop bit it is not what you may think when you first imagine a juniors shop, not every shirt is a size 1 with pictures of Hello Kitty or phrases written on them that look cute on a 16 year old but not a 36 year old, the clothes are very sassy, sophisticated and could be jazzed up with accessories to fit a 16 year old or a 36 year old, depending on how you wear the clothes. And a mega shoe shop , I really mean mega, it was racks of shoes for kids and adults. I am a sandals and flip flop addict and they had so many to choose from as well as fancy heels, casual sneakers and more. Of course I could not forget the task at hand, Fathers Day gift, so I forced myself back to the men's department to check out some great ideas like THESE. They had accessories for men, from ties to tie clips, from wallets to chains to hold wallets.

The selection of clothing and non clothing merchandise to pick from, selection of name brand and selection of size made it difficult, in a good way, to pick what I wanted to buy, but easy at the same time. So in the end I walked away with a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for my husband (who is hard to shop for because of his waist size, shh!!), some fancy smelling cologne for my dad (which is wrapped already but it had a price tag of $52 and I only paid $21)and a golf set that included tees, cleaner of some sort and covers for his clubs and other goodies and two shirts for my father in law. At the end, my price was just under $100 for 3 men, all who will be getting two gifts each. Normally I spend about $25 to $30 on each of them to stay in budget and they only get one gift. And since I wanted to get my shopping in as soon as possible, I could not take advantage but if you shop June 20th or 21st you also get a reusable shopping bag with purchase!
